WHAT IS AGNEEPATH SCHEME?

The Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday revealed the "Agneepath Scheme" with the aim of joining the youth in the 3 services and making them skilled nationals for the future.

On this occasion, the heads of the three armies also listed this scheme's benefits. General Manoj Pandey told that along with the insurance plan, Agniveers will also job opportunities in the future.

Rajnath Singh said that this plan will bring a revolutionary change to the Indian armies. With this, the economy of the country will also improve and the future of the youth will also be brightened.

He further added that the jawans who will serve as per the Agneepath scheme will be given primacy in jobs in various government sectors.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Under the Agneepath scheme, youth between 17.5 years to 21 years will be recruited and be given 10 weeks to six months of training. 

These jawans will be equipped with holographic, night, and fire control systems. Along with this, hand-held target systems will also be given to these soldiers.

SALARY

Under the Agneepath scheme, the annual salary of Agniveers will be ₹4.76 lakh. In the 4th year, this salary will increase to ₹6.92 lakh.

After completing 4 years of service in the army, about ₹11.7 lakh will be given along with one-time interest. This money will be out of the purview of income tax.

AFTER-LIFE

The candidates selected in this way will serve for 4 years as Agniveer and will leave the army job after it. 25% Agniveers on the basis of merit will also be adjusted in the regular cadre. 

After this, they will be able to lead a disciplined life as a skilled citizen in society and they will be given primacy in other jobs as well.

OTHER DETAILS

If a soldier dies, his family will get full insurance cover and about ₹1 crore including service fund and full salary of the remaining service will be given to the family of the martyr.

If one becomes disabled during service, then they will get about ₹44 lakh rupees as per the seriousness of the disability. The entire salary of the remaining service period will also be given.
